Most of my minecraft Multiplayer friends seem to be having trouble with lag and getting stuck in chunks. I used Clumps to be able to get right outside a chunk and go “camping” there for half an hour or so without any problems, but that’s been changing. Lag is pretty much a non-factor these days and I’m sure some of the newer players have gotten used to it real quick. So what’s up?
Well, I don’t know if it’s just me, but it’s getting very hard to find chunks. The search radius on the game saves my butt sometimes its not even that. Sometimes you can be outside a chunk and not see a single sign of anything or someone, yet you have to assume they are there because you saw something very near where you were standing when you got outside. This is a big problem in minecraft mmorpgs that use chunks. Even worse is that you often have to walk a long way before you find a single sign of activity.
So I started looking around for ways to solve this issue. I knew I should look at more than just my own game, but a quick search on google seemed pointless. I soon found what I was looking for though. A minecraft mod that actually finds chunks for you. It’s a really nice feature.
You can’t see chunks until you’re inside them. I love the fact that I no longer have to guess what a chunk might be or how near it might be. This makes for an amazing game.
Minecraft is almost perfect for playing on smaller maps, but on larger maps it seems like there are still a lot of problems with the physics. lag doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore, but there’s still times where I can spend an hour or so just hunting for a specific thing and never find it. That’s just not fun. I also really like the fact that minecraft modding allows me to make the world as big or small as I want it to be.
I don’t have to worry about this anymore. When I find something or am in a minecraft world, all I have to do is right click on it will give me a map. I can even view chunks on the minimap. Now I can spend hours just enjoying the minecraft mod. Instead of sitting in front of my computer like I used to, I can actually go play minecraft in my favorite living room. No more bored me at home during the workweek!
