Zombie Decay: Decimation is a modification to the popular modpack DayZ modpack. I’ve been playing zombie survival games since vanilla DayZ and this is my first attempt at designing something myself. It was quite interesting to go through the zombie stats and see how I could make them even more unique by adding my own touches here and there. After making some minor changes in the Zombie stats, I started playing it again just to test it out and see if I had really made any differences. Here are some notes on Zombie Decay: Decimation.
– Changed all of the zombies to wearing better clothes (shirt, pants, etc) that more closely match their environment (desert, forest, post-apocalyptic, etc). You can also now damage zombies while you’re inside them, though they won’t be killed while inside your vehicle (a factor I found very funny). Zombies now have medical kits as well as first aid kits and can heal themselves. They also carry metal pipes and cables as weapons that can be used against you.
– Added a new type of Zombie that has some serious energy! These Zombies appear much like Walking Dead styled survivors and have several health upgrades compared to normal Zombies. The Energy Zombies is also faster and more aggressive. The downside to this is you will have to deal with them more often as they keep moving after you kill them. Either way, these guys can prove to be quite a challenge.
– Made Zombies come in groups. Now when you see a group of zombies, you can approach them more cautiously. They won’t spot you the same way they do when you’re alone, but you’ll have a better chance at surviving. This also adds an element of risk to the game. Zombies will also have a warning when you are nearing them and can take cover or run away at a moment’s notice.
– Changed the way you acquire weapons. Now you get infected with a virus that slows down their metabolism which makes it easier for them to decay. Once they are dead, they become easier to kill. Previously, all the zombies were prone to a biting you to death. It wasn’t very fun.
I hope these changes have improved your Realistic Zombie experience. As I mentioned earlier, you are not required to do anything besides playing and enjoying the game. But having the right information makes it that much more fun. Thanks to Zombie Apocalve for making it all possible. Enjoy!
