The latest release by the Diamond Studio, Der Fems Lucky Block v3.0 is now out for testing on the mod’s official site. This update, however, doesn’t bring any major changes to the mod. It does add a few tweaks here and there, mostly in terms of balancing. This mod is still in its early stages, after all. What I’m going to do now is tell you about its new Lucky Block, which I have now managed to get my hands on.
It is a remodel of the current block, with some additions to it. Right off the bat, you can already see that the old block is being redone. There are two new blocks added in this version: the Glowstone, which provide a light source, and the Squidoo, which can be used to turn invisible. There are also a few tweaks to how the current blocks work. For instance, the block frames have been slightly adjusted so that they don’t always block the player’s view.
I got lucky when I was trying to get to the part where I need to put up the Squidoo in order to turn invisible. I was just standing right next to it, and it was on the point where I couldn’t move or use it anyway. When I stepped on it, I would just see the block frame underneath. So I just walked over it, and I was suddenly visible. This was really cool.
Now, let’s talk about the Lucky Block itself. This mod is very similar to the original Lucky Block, in that it features four different colored blocks. The only difference, however, is that now, instead of using light to make the blocks become solid, they only use light from the red power cell. This change makes the gameplay a lot more dynamic, as you can actually interact with the objects in the game, even if they are not lit at all.
I must say, I was a little bored with the Lucky Block while I was testing the mod. It seemed like it only had two textures, and there were four blocks, which were not very interesting to me. The Lucky Block looks like one solid block, but as soon as you put up the red power cell, it starts to wobble. Which I do not like, and that is why I am not really fond of this mod, even though I have played the original one myself.
The biggest issue with the mod is that it does not have a backup feature. That means that if you save your game, you have to reload it or lose your progress. I know that it is suppose to be one hundred percent safe, but sometimes it does not live up to what it is supposed to be. Like I said, it is a fun mod, but not something I would recommend for those who are looking for a completely mod free, fast and effective game.
