DisplayName – Nick name 1.16.5 for me! This is the “in-game” name you give your character. This has serious effects on the in-game world, as players can easily tell which character belongs to what team because of this. It is very useful when you’re going into a major battle and want everyone to know your role so your team will have a fighting chance.
I have been playing MineCraft since its early stages, and I would say that the community is definitely growing. However, I still get random errors when trying to join a match… The good thing with the Server Browser mod is that it can be activated / disabled from the in-game options menu. To find this option, type “ui” followed by an additional word, then “set”.
By typing the words “enabled”, “start” and “reset” I was able to be able to turn this “no-shows” into actual shows. If you want to change your DisplayName, just go to the character’s profile page and look for the “Changing Name” button. You can also do this while you’re in a match to see if you are already set up as a different character. I didn’t have any problems with this so I decided to use this method to help remove a few “no-shows” from my account. It didn’t really solve anything major, but it sure made things easier.
For some people it might even be a good idea to keep your display name private, so nobody knows who you are or what role you are playing! I’m not the only one with this problem; there are many people in the forums and chats that have the same problem. You can always make a new account if you want. I hope you don’t mind giving your real name as well!
The problem with this is that if you are banned, switching characters mid-game can get you banned too, so it’s best just to stay on the same character and avoid changing your name. Your main goal in the game is to get to the end of the levels, and get rewarded with the best equipment. By changing your screen name you will cause people to have trouble remembering you, so you’ll most likely end up in the ban list. This isn’t the modding forums, but it’s a good place to ask questions. Just be careful of scams and spammers in general.
It was a lot of fun, and I think I did a pretty good job changing my display name! Now that I’m using my actual name, I feel a little more comfortable in the forums and chats. I still read the transcripts of other players’ posts though, so I have to watch my spelling and grammar because I don’t want to be caught out! Anyway I hope these few tips have helped! Have fun playing MineCraft and happy gaming!
