The Manhattan Project, also known as the ‘milestone mod’, is a modification for the game Minecraft. It brings the famous mod to version 1.3. This means that this mod adds many new features, most notably that of the ‘builders island’ – which is one of the major attractions for people that have played the original version of the game.
This island is a huge construction site that was used by the players to build their own homes, farms and factories. However, because the island was so big, it took a very long time to complete. Therefore, many years ago, the government ordered that all players should start from scratch and not be allowed to use the island. But this did not stop them – instead, they started to build even bigger islands for their players. They also added a few features to make the island more enjoyable and challenging: there are a water tower, a prison and a jail where players can spend their time before going back to their homes.
However, this island also contains many bugs and other issues that can be really frustrating. One of these is the inability to find the resources and the crafting bench. The resources are required for the other island improvements, but they aren’t always visible. The furnishing bench, on the other hand, is not placed close to any structure, causing players to move around a lot and not be able to place anything in their inventory in the right places. Another issue is that there is no way to raise the spawn rate of creatures – only creatures that can fly can be spawned. So even if you’re close to an animal, it will remain in its natural environment and won’t come to you.
However, this isn’t the only problem with this mod. The fact that the mod uses the vanilla texture means that it will conflict with any other mod that uses the exact same texture. There are also some low quality materials that have been added, which is very noticeable during play. It would be wise to download the Lucraft Add-on Pack installer to ensure compatibility between your system and this mod.
The main complaint about the Manhattan Project is the lack of island expansion. You can find three new islands, but only two of them have anything resembling the original features from the game. They are aptly named, “Downtown” and “Verdigris.” Only the latter has the ferry that can take you to downtown, and even then, the journey is rather lengthy. The other island expansion features some decent features, namely the trading post and the jail. The rest of the island lacks any noticeable mod features, so it doesn’t really detract from the enjoyment of the mod.
Overall, the Manhattan Project Lucraft Add-on Packs comes with four new island expansions, but only two of them add anything substantial. The rest of the pack feels quite fun, despite lacking the island expansion that many people have been looking for. The mod features a great storyline, excellent graphics, excellent modding support, and a lot of mod options, including a lot of weapon mods. Overall, the Manhattan Project is still one of the best Skirmish mods out there, and it is certainly worth the purchase price.
